Go to war
Go to war
It is undoubtedly the most famous treatise on the art of war to have seen the
day in the West. An essential work whose reputation has not waned between
the 5th and 19th centuries. Its title? On the military thing (De re militari). Its
author is a certain Vegetius (? - around 450), a high official of the Late Empire
Roman and who was in no way a military man. It is therefore not a
treaty written on the basis of war experience, but from a manual
eminently practical, thoughtful, comprehensive, concerning the best ways of
to wage a war, both from the point of view of the combatants, the weapons, and that of
of tactics and strategy. An art of waging battles, both on land
that at sea, a science of the effective means which must be employed there, such as
know how to stage them, in a masterly way, the astonishing engravings of this
treatise on the art of war. Exceptional engravings where one can discover, with
curiosity, with amazement, ingenuity, unparalleled inventiveness,
the skill, the wit, the cunning, the imagination, the creativity that must be done
proof to be able to win and cry victory.
