Vento e Pietre - There are places on the surface of the Earth called “hot spots”, which represent an archipelago of wonderful singularities, where everything begins and everything ends. They are like windows, through which it is possible to observe the extraordinary movement of the elements that make up the Earth System. These places trace a geological map; like stars, they guide us in reading a story and a journey in perpetual becoming. Lanzarote is not just an island, but the point of contact between us and the landscape. At a time when the digital screen has become our main window on the world, the choice of a newspaper format becomes a hymn to the materiality of art, to freedom of expression. I wanted to take up and reinterpret, in a contemporary key, a typographic and communicative format that is now obsolete, dare I say uncomfortable. Breaking away from the patterns and ephemeral comfort of modern communication allows us to enter into intimacy with ourselves. Each page of this diary represents an invitation to immerse oneself in the photographic grain, to touch the images and to perceive the material roughness of the stones, printed on the film. The images that adorn the pages are not simply photographs, but fragments of a narrative, folded and shaped by light and shadow. They appear independent of each other, extending beyond the limit of the sheet, breaking with classical conventions and suggesting a bridge between the island and the visitor. “Vento e Pietre” is not just a self-edition, but the beginning of a journey.
