JOURNEY IN PAREIDOLIE

Since 2021, Mattt Konture, Janko and a group of guests have taken on the task of to make a large book of comics and pareidolic drawings. PAREIDOLY Pareido-what?! Pareidolia is recognizing shapes figurative, such as faces, heads, animal and human bodies, in abstract patterns. The most famous example is seeing figures in the clouds. TECHNIQUE This book started from a technique of Mattt, which consists of stamping sheets of moistened crumpled paper prints ink. Some of these print boards, starting points for the reverie and inspiration, are included in the book. From these organic images, we have then revealed these figures by tracing outlines and details, thus completing the drawing initiated by the imprint. These drawings are presented in the strip form drawn, surrounded by speech bubbles, arranged in series of boxes. DRAWINGS COLLECTIVES Boards were drawn by Mattt Konture and Janko, the most often in pairs, sometimes more, or even sometimes solo. This extends the process Comix Band, which consists of several people drawing on the same sheets of paper, like we make music in a group on the same pieces. The drawings were made on tables at the En Traits Libres workshop in Montpellier. Designers were invited to send in their own variations, based on the same series of inked crumpled paper prints, which give the whole its graphic coherence.
