  • What We Leave Behind; From Jean-Luc Godard's Archive - After a composition commissioned sound for Deutschlandradio, the multidisciplinary artist Stéphan Crasneanscki (b. 1969, French) examines his significant opus further What We Leave Behind, based on the archives of French director Jean-Luc Godard, in book form. The book is divided into four comprehensive sections: boxes, collages, still lifes and notes. \n \nInvited to explore the archives of the A founding filmmaker, Crasneanscki photographed the personal collection of Godard of film shots, reel to reel and historical ephemera. Notes and references in the book bear witness to the passage of time, while being rescued from oblivion; as a fragmented creative map of the process of artistic thought of a master filmmaker. In addition to working with the effects someone's personal and cultural heritage, Crasneanscki adds also his own interpretation and admiration for the constellation of ideas of identity, traceability, temporality, space, memory, existence, of materiality and historicity of the material. \n \nThe book contains a preface by musician, author and poet Patti Smith (born 1946, American), a conversation with filmmaker Abel Ferrara (b. 1951, American) and an essay written by film critic, historian and editor Antoine de Baecque (b 1962, French)
