  • Wuhan Radiography is a surprising book on a series of silver images in black and white taken by the Belgian photographer Simon Vansteenwinckel. He ventures through his computer screen into the Chinese city of Wuhan before the pandemic. The illusion is total and indescribable. By using a special film, Washi-F, which was initially used as a film medical x-ray to diagnose lung diseases, Simon operates a disturbing dismantling of our a priori. We no longer know where we are are. The images appear real and ghostly, beautiful and overexposed, irradiated sometimes. The flash it uses makes a luminous halo appear hovering over the city like a ruling observing star panopticon.
The text by the philosopher and poet Johan Grzelczyk takes us slip little by little into this sparkling night. His words follow one another, break, hide under the shadows by questioning our way of populating the world.
