General strike was formed around an image/text/graphic design triptych, in order to transcribe a general climate, a rhythm specific to the demonstrations, the point of view of the protestors … and this while keeping the readability of the book as a guideline. It was necessary to restore the photography in their context and to take up the facts in their chronological order, a necessary precondition to establish their historical value. The book General Strike wishes to ensure that this social movement does not fall into oblivion – because of the density of political and social news which constantly wateres the media flow. The “archive” is an open concept; it’s up to us to include what seems important to us, to build the History that we hope for tomorrow.
