Armors – The first book dedicated to the French artist known for her avant-garde practice of pushing back the codes of the textile industry, questioning the dichotomy of made-to-measure / ready-to-wear and questioning the place of women and the female body in society, Armors brings together fifteen new textile sculptures in various formats, some archival images, as well as an unpublished text by the philosopher Emanuele Coccia and a conversation between Jeanne Vicerial and the art historian Ida Soulard.

Published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition at the Templon Gallery, Paris, in 2023.
Jeanne Vicerial (born in 1991, lives and works in Paris) turned to clothing design as a teenager. After studying costume design and obtaining a Master’s degree in Clothing Design at the École des Arts Décoratifs de Paris in 2015, she embarked on a research project that took the form of a doctoral thesis SACRe (Sciences, Arts, Creation, Research) defended in 2019. She deepens her research through the development, thanks to a partnership with the mechatronics department of MINES ParisTech, of a patented robotic process that allows the production of tailor-made garments without dropping. At the same time, she became involved in an artistic process that led her to found, after a stint with Hussein Chalayan, the research and design studio Clinique vestimentaire. In addition to her personal creations, she quickly initiated numerous collaborations with artists from diverse backgrounds: photographers, sculptors, performers, choreographers, musicians, perfumers… Resident at the French Academy in Rome – Villa Medici in 2019-2020, her creations have been exhibited at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris (2018), in Rome (Villa Medici and Palazzo Farnese, 2020), at the Collection Lambert in Avignon (2021) and have been included in the collection of the Cnap (Centre national des arts plastiques).
