B-Side – The Eyes #12

A committed photographic magazine, The Eyes tells and questions the links between social and cultural facts. Each issue offers a carte blanche to experts directly concerned.

This year, The Eyes invites British artist photographer and author Johny Pitts to consider the notion of Afropeanness. In this twelfth issue, singular historical and contemporary photographs, seminal books and pioneering journals, accompanied by texts and interviews, explore the multiplicity of black identities as they are experienced in Europe.

Entitled B-Side, inspired by music, this issue offers an offbeat approach, and highlights what is most often seen at the margins. It explores a variety of perspectives on Afropean and diasporic identities, with the collaboration of artists and authors who share their own experiences.
