Costa – Casa de Lava

Costa – Casa de Lava – 10 years after the first edition, the second edition of the famous album is published. During the preparation of his film ‘Casa de Lava’ (1994), Portuguese filmmaker Pedro Costa compiled what he had seen, read, his many ideas and images into an album instead of a screenplay.
Paintings, film stills, letters, newspaper articles, doodles, quotations from novels, postcards, lines of dialogue, snapshots, which guided him throughout the making of the film and which he continued – and completed – after his return to Lisbon.

This green-covered notepad has become an autonomous object, a visual record of Costa’s way of thinking; a scrapbook in Portuguese, it contains an à-part booklet in French, English and Portuguese, including Philippe Azoury’s text and the interview between Nuno Crespo and Pedro Costa.
