Penser avec la frontière – Sophie Djigo is a philosopher in the field. Caught up in current events on the Franco-British border, not far from where she teaches philosophy, she conducts surveys among people in exile, in Calais, London, Paris – La Chapelle and Brussels. Bastien Deschamps is an itinerant photographer. Since 2015, he has been taking to the road and devoting himself to photography full-time. He claims his practice of photography as a geopoetics, approaching social issues through the prism of raw feeling.

Sophie Djigo and Bastien Deschamps offer us, through their words and images, a glimpse of what’s at stake on the borders of Europe, as they look at the Evros river that separates Turkey and Greece. Together, they invite us to think with the border. To cross the river is to experience the nuances of border reality, where a whole series of paradoxes play out, which philosophy attempts to account for by readjusting thought to reality.
