Rebâtir le ciel

In the 16th century, the discovery of heliocentrism caused an uproar before leading to a small revolution: there was no question, at first, of no longer believing that the Earth was the center of the universe, it was even condemnable to think otherwise. But here we are today, raising our heads towards the sky and looking at it with the strength of ever-renewed discoveries, accepting from now on to constantly redraw the map. Is there a lesson to be learned from this profound change in our understanding of the habitable universe?

Just as we have been able to transform our conception of heaven over the last few centuries, we must now reconstruct the way we read, hear, see and accept human identity, gender and desire. No more binary or restrictive forms should contain them, exclude them, oppress them: the time has come to Rebâtir le ciel, and this series, by celebrating human diversity, but also by revealing its sufferings and redefining its contours, is an invitation to all people to gently recognize or finally (understand) themselves.

Rebâtir le ciel is a protean creation, made of literature and photography, not wishing to be defined by one or the other, but rather as an iconoclastic and adventurous art object, open and useful, documentary and invention. This object is to be experienced as a work of beauty and pain, the result of the patient and transformative listening of its two creators Simon Emond and Michel Lemelin. Rebâtir le ciel opens all the possibilities if only we agree to open the pages; we would like it to provoke an outcry, to feed a great revolution.
