Today, drawing occupies a very important place in the landscape of international contemporary art. The practice of the drawing is relayed by institutions or individuals who dedicate their collections to it, by fairs and specialized galleries, by thematic exhibitions. In this strong context, Roven is the first French critical review to dedicate its contents to the contemporary drawing.
Roven approaches the multiple practices of the drawing: the drawing says “traditional” and, in a broader sense, the drawing under all its forms. Whether drawing exists independently or is a step in the creative process, it is a real laboratory of creation, closely linked to all disciplines and all media. Roven’s critical approach highlights the way drawing is practiced, used, diverted, referenced, in order to stimulate dialogue on this medium and more broadly on contemporary art.
