trente barbecues faits maison – This book brings together thirty drawings of homemade barbecues created between 2018 and 2021 by Antoine Séguin. I discovered each of these barbecues at friends’ homes, in the street, on campsites, on building sites, at demonstrations, in car parks, on wasteland, in squats, etc. Using photographs taken on the spot, I drew the geometries of these barbecues freehand using a precision felt-tip pen on tracing paper or paper. My drawings are inspired by the covers of instructions for commercial barbecues, but also by assembly instructions for kit furniture. These thirty barbecues are unique pieces, made from a variety of materials, most of them recycled. My drawings are a tribute to the ingenuity of their designers and manufacturers.
