Vento e Pietre – There are places on the Earth’s surface called “hot-spots,” which represent an archipelago of marvelous singularities, where everything begins and everything ends. They are like windows through which it is possible to observe the extraordinary movement of the elements that make up the Earth System. These places trace a geological map; like stars, they guide us in reading a tale and a journey that is continuously evolving. Lanzarote is not just an island, but the point of contact between us and the universe. In an era where the digital screen has become our primary window to the world, choosing a newspaper format becomes a hymn to the materiality of art, to the freedom of expression. I wanted to revisit and reinterpret, in a contemporary way, a typographic and communicative format that is now obsolete, I would even say uncomfortable. Stepping out of the molds and the ephemeral comfort of today’s communication allows us to get intimate with ourselves. Each page of this newspaper represents an invitation to immerse oneself in the photographic grain, to touch the images and perceive the material roughness of the stones, imprinted on the film. The images that decorate the pages are not just photographs, but fragments of a narrative, folded and shaped by light and shadow. They appear independent from each other, expanding beyond the edge of the paper, breaking classical conventions and suggesting a bridge between the island and the visitor. “Vento e Pietre” is not just a self-publication, but the beginning of a journey.
