Animabilia is an investigation into the role of aesthetics in the relationship with animals. Amazing traits such as iridescent scales, multicolored coats, brilliant feathers, generate in humans an impulse of spontaneous wonder, which results in practices of appropriation, imitation and objectification. More than ten visual narratives traverse the modes of this sublimation: through a collection of images involving naturalistic subjects such as tassiserms, dioramas, zoos and tropicals, Animabila outlines the expressions of this fascination, focusing on ancient practices that find translation in the contemporary today.
