  • This superb exhibition book is a groundbreaking new publication on Lubaina Himid, created in close collaboration with the artist and covering areas of her work never before explored. Lubaina Himid is known for her innovative approaches to painting and social engagement.

Originally trained as a theater designer, she has played a key role in the UK since the 1980s for her contribution to the black British art movement, creating a space for the expression and recognition of black experience and women's creativity. Over the past decade, she has gained international recognition for her figurative paintings, which explore overlooked and invisible aspects of history and contemporary everyday life. In 2017, she was awarded the Turner Prize.
