Véhicules – ART BRUT La collection

The series Art Brut La Collection, directed by Sarah Lombardi, reports on the Biennale de l’Art Brut, which highlights the exceptional holdings of the Collection de l’Art Brut, comprising more than 60,000 works.
Indeed, the institution wishes to enhance its superb collection, which cannot be shown permanently due to lack of space. It offers the public a look at its works through a theme that is renewed each time. The first, vehicles, inaugurates a series of thematic exhibitions that will be held every two years at the museum, on the model of a biennial, and will aim to highlight the wealth of material collected. From Hidenori Motooka’s locomotives to Franz Kernbeis’ bicycle, from Willem Van Genk’s airships to Auguste Forestier’s boats, many Outsider Art artists have focused on mobility.
The exhibition, accompanied by the first book in the series, will present only works from the Collection’s holdings: assemblages, sculptures and drawings by nearly 40 creators.
