Hamburg has a film-noir style of filmmaking, which is very much in keeping with Brunelli’s approach. In this edition of 200 photos, we see what the photographer captured while roaming the streets of Hamburg.
Intense and dark, Brunelli creates a moody portrait of this city through his encounters with people and animals who also roam the streets. The result is a witness point of view; an anonymous roving character who looks at the corners and lines of the city, observing and taking in the mystery.
Made in 2015 as a special commission from the Deichtorhallen Museum of Photography and Flaneur, it was exhibited at the 2015 Hamburg Photography Triennial Festival on the Rathausmarkt square, see the installation section on this site for more info.
1st edition printed at 200 copies. This first issue of the new collection of Bessard Editions; L’Atelier Risographique is dedicated to black and white photographs taken by Giacomo Brunelli in the city of Hamburg.
