Initium Maris – carnet de bord

Nicolas Floc’h’s mission is to establish a photographic typology of French underwater landscapes based on the exploration of the different sea fronts, and to place them in perspective with climate change and anthropic pressures. Initium Maris allows to approach the underwater landscapes and their transformations in the West between Saint-Malo and Saint-Nazaire as well as in Japan. In this almost tropical lush environment, the eye seeks to measure the extent and scale of the landscape where cliffs, sand trails or marine vegetation are profiled. A true photographic manifesto revealing the importance of exploring the underwater environment from an artistic point of view, Nicolas Floc’h proposes a new representation and invites us to build new imaginations.
